Blown Away — the great new album from Stuart Cassells |

|
"Stuart Cassells is making no small contribution to the world of contemporary piping. He is able to combine his traditional piping background with a real talent to entertain - a distinctive characteristic of this album." ...Fred Morrison |
|
The pipes are like the open string Rickenbacker of Pete Townshend. Not much between them. There's also the lovely more traditional ballads where Stuart's pipes and his friends just make it a lovely noise to listen to. It certainly makes me want to pick up my pipes and play... Well done Stuart and long may you reign.” ...Phil Collins |

Stuart will be hosting “A Bit Of A Blow” each Saturday evening from 24 June on Radio Scotland. It’s a six-part series exploring the modern world of piping.

Glasgow Green on Saturday 10th September 2005 hosted BBC Scotland’s contribution to the now nationwide BBC Proms Concerts. Like previous years, Glasgow, Belfast and Swansea hosted their own concerts before uniting via big-screen link-ups around the country for the live relay of the famous finale of the Last Night of the Proms from the Royal Albert Hall, London.
Performing on stage in Glasgow with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra were - the celebrated Scottish folk star Dougie MacLean; Irish soprano Ailish Tynan, one of the world's most acclaimed singing talents; and the exciting Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers. If that wasn't enough, they were joined by the acclaimed National Youth Choir of Scotland, and BBC Radio Scotland's Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2005, piper Stuart Cassells. Wearing his now trademark red Sporran, Stuart led the orchestra in a highly orchestrated Highland Cathedral - an undoubted highlight of the evening.
Pictured above is Stuart with the dramatic spectacle of the Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers behind. |
